Beautiful rolling highlands, sparkling seas and rugged coastlines, old-world castles and modern day cities, there is so much to explore in the United Kingdom! Composed of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, the UK is one of the world’s most powerful nations today. The UK is a constitutional monarchy where King Charles III acts as the head of state while the Prime Minister is the head of government. The vast majority of the people in the UK love their sovereign and see it as a symbol of long-lasting British tradition and strength despite the country being a democracy. Long live the King!
Boasting as one of the world’s most visited cities is London. Set along the river Thames, millions of visitors flock to London each year to take in the views from the iconic London Eye, walk over Tower Bridge, and take in the regality of Buckingham Palace. While London is one of my favorite cities in the world, there is so much more to the UK than just London! Not only are there other fantastic cities to explore, but the countryside throughout the UK is unlike any other. Drive or catch a train outside the city to the English countryside and stay in the Cotswolds, drive along the south coast of England and Wales, or visit the majestic highlands of Scotland. Scattered throughout the country you will find centuries old castles, fortresses, and villages, exhibiting the old world charm that makes the UK the lovable nation it is today. Wherever you are on your journey, make sure to stop into a pub or two to grab a meat pie and hardy ale!
