Where to even start! There is so much to explore in Germany. The natural beauty of the Alps lends itself to some of the world’s most majestic hiking and skiing. Villages set along winding rivers or located in the Black Forest make it feel like you just stepped into a fairytale town. Majestic palaces such as Burg Hohenzollern, Burg Eltz, and the iconic Neuschwanstein are some of the country’s most notable sights, along with towering cathedrals such as Cologne Cathedral and Ulm Minster (the tallest in the world!). No trip to Germany would be complete without a pretzel and beer in hand! Festivals such as Oktoberfest draw in tourists from all over to experience the traditional cuisine and celebratory fun the Germans know how to have. Cities such as Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart and more are clean, safe, and easy to get around. Along with amazing bakeries, you’ll find beautiful mixtures of modern and old-world architecture around every corner.
Traveling within Germany is a breeze! Trains make it easy to access every part of the country for an affordable price and great view of the countryside. Plus, it is really easy to drive, fly, or take a train to so many other destinations outside the country. Bordering 9 countries, I absolutely love how Germany is so centrally located in Europe! It is a great base to have if you are wanting to efficiently hit as many countries as you can.
Other than the US, Germany is the country I have traveled within most extensively. Living in Germany for the last two years of high school led to many opportunities to hop on a train and visit countless German cities and quaint villages, each with their own memorable characteristics. That being said, in no way was I able to cover it all! I cannot wait to go back and pick up where I left off 🙂
