Okay, I couldn’t go to Singapore without going to Universal Studios. Here’s a look at my thrilling day inside the park along with everything you need to know in order to make the most out of your day!

Getting to Universal Studios

If you are staying on Sentosa Island, then you are within walking distance of the park. If you aren’t up for walking then you can take the Sentosa Express, a monorail system that has four stations throughout the island. However, the lines can be very long and it’s always jam packed inside.

Like many people, we were staying in the city and not on Sentosa Island. The MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) is the easiest and most efficient way to get around in Singapore. To get to Sentosa, you want to get off at HarbourFront station, the last stop on the North East Line. From here you can either take the Sentosa Express to Waterfront Station and get dropped off right at Universal Studios, or you can walk along the Sentosa boardwalk. This is a about a 15 minute walk and most of it is on a series of moving walkways! It is a beautiful walk along the water and you save $8 per person! Plus it is covered, so if it’s raining (like it was when we were there) you’ll stay dry!

Buying Your Tickets

A one-day ticket for Universal Studios is 79 Singapore dollars. You can buy tickets through the Resorts World Sentosa website or in person at Sentosa. We bought ours at the Sentosa booth in HarbourFront station. You can buy any Sentosa attraction ticket here. Although it’s usually cheaper to buy theme park tickets online, this is not the case for Universal Studios Singapore (USS). Tickets are the same price online and in person.

Attractions

There are 7 different lands in the park: Hollywood, Madagascar, Far Far Away, Jurassic Park, Ancient Egypt, Sci-Fi City, and New York. Each has multiple rides, restaurants, and gift shops. I was surprised how many attractions there were since USS is the smallest of the Universal theme parks. From merry go rounds to plunging roller-coasters, it has it all!

Here were my top 3 favorite rides!

  1. Revenge of the Mummy
  2. Puss in Boots Giant Journey
  3. Jurassic Park Roaring Rapids

I love thrill rides and they certainly did have a great selection! Definitely wouldn’t recommend Revenge of the Mummy for anyone with little kids though. It even spooked me! I was able to go on that one many times because of the single rider line. This is a great way to skip the line if you don’t mind not sitting next to your friends. Many of the rides have this feature and it is a huge time saver.

Tip: Be sure to arrive early at the park! You will be one of the first ones in right when it opens and you’ll be able to ride multiple rides with little to no wait time!

Our first ride of the day! Less then a 5 minute wait time!

Throughout the day there are also lots of shows and live entertainment! In your map there will be a schedule for the day showing all the different shows and times they will be running. The most well-know show is probably WaterWorld. This is a very entertaining stunt show based on the movie WaterWorld. It is located in the back of Jurassic Park. My favorite show was Donkey Live! which was in Far Far Away. It was the perfect way to start winding down at the end of the day and have lots of laughs!

Don’t forget to eat! Universal Studios has a wide range of meals and snacks to choose from. We ate lunch at the Discovery Food Court in Jurassic Park and had a chicken and rice meal. If you don’t feel like eating in the park and want to take a break from the crowds, right outside the park is a great “Malaysian Food Street” where you will find more traditional Asian meals. Make sure to get a stamp on your hand before exiting to allow re-entry into the park.

And finally, make sure to catch your favorite characters at some point in the day!
